Which digital skill should you learn first in Nepal?
Every week someone asks us the same question: which skill should I start with? The honest answer is that it depends less on which one pays most and more on which one you will still be doing in six months.
Digital marketing
The fastest to earn from, because every business in Kathmandu needs it and most cannot do it themselves. You can be running paid campaigns for a small client within three months.
- Typical starting pay: Rs 25,000 to 40,000 a month in-house
- Freelance: Rs 15,000 to 30,000 per client per month
- Suits you if: you like numbers and are comfortable being judged on results
Graphic design
The easiest to show. A portfolio speaks for itself, so you can win work before anyone asks about your CV. The trade-off is more competition at the bottom end.
Video editing
The steepest demand curve right now. Every creator and every business making reels needs an editor, and good ones are genuinely hard to find.
Web development
The longest runway and the highest ceiling. Slower to first income, but it opens international clients paying in dollars.
So, which one?
